PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Coupeville Arts & Crafts Festival will celebrate its 60th year in 2024. One of the oldest continually-running arts and crafts fairs in Washington State, the Festival takes place in downtown Coupeville, Washington on the second weekend of August each year.

In celebration, the Coupeville Festival Association (CFA) announces this request for proposals. The CFA is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to promoting quality handcrafts and the arts, ensuring cultural enrichment, and beautifying and preserving the unique historical quality of the Coupeville community. Proceeds from each festival are invested in the Coupeville community in the form of grants and scholarships. To date, the CFA has donated over $1.2 million to community projects and students.

The CFA seeks an artist to create the central art that will be used for the poster, t-shirt, and other advertising materials. The artist can be new or established, live locally or farther afield. The artwork could be in retro 60s style to harken back to the beginning of the Festival; it could blend old and new styles and concepts; it could riff off past posters; meld historic photos with modern-day ones—however the artist best thinks to celebrate the Arts & Crafts Festival, its impact on the Town of Coupeville, and 60 years of history.

CRITERIA

  • High-quality 2D rendering of art in any medium that can be used for 11x17 posters, digital ads, printed on t-shirts, used as the cover for the program guide, and other advertising assets.
  • Rights to use and reproduce the finished piece must be assigned to the Coupeville Festival Association.
  • OPTIONAL: Include the CFA’s mascot Coupe (a seagull) into the finished piece
  • Does not need to include any text; the CFA’s in-house designer will convert the finished art as needed, including adding text, dates, and sponsor logos

PLEASE NOTE the CFA is requesting proposals, not finished pieces. We wish to limit uncompensated work for the artist community. At this time, please only submit the following application outlining your artistic style and idea for the finished piece. Only the selected finalist, who will receive $1,000 in compensation, is expected to create a finished art piece.
